Dying is when something stops working and can't come back to life anymore.
Imagine you have a favorite toy, like a teddy bear that always makes you laugh. When your teddy bear is alive, it’s soft, warm, and full of joy, you can hug it, talk to it, and feel happy. But when your teddy bear starts getting old, maybe its stuffing comes out, or its eyes get cloudy. One day, you might not be able to hear it anymore, and it just sits there quietly on the shelf.
That’s like dying, when something stops working and doesn’t come back. It doesn’t mean it's gone completely, but it can't do what it used to do.
What happens after dying?
Sometimes, things that have died can be brought back to life again. Like if you put your teddy bear in the washing machine (carefully!), it might look new again, like it was reborn! But not always. Sometimes, a toy is so old and worn out that even washing won't bring it back.
That’s how people think about dying too, some can come back to life in different ways, but others stay gone forever.
Examples
- A person stops breathing and their heart stops beating.
- The body can no longer function on its own.
- The brain loses activity and the person doesn't respond.
