What are mediators?

Mediators are people who help others talk and work together when they're not getting along.

Imagine you and your friend want to play with the same toy, but you both want it at the same time. That’s when a mediator can come in, like a grown-up or another kid who knows both of you well. The mediator listens to what each of you wants and helps you find a way to share the toy, maybe by taking turns.

Mediators don’t take sides, they just want everyone to be happy and get along.

How Mediators Work

A mediator might say things like, “Why don't you both play with the toy for five minutes each?” or “Can you trade toys so you can both have something you like?”

It's like when a teacher helps two kids who are fighting, they help them see each other’s point of view and find a fair solution.

Mediators are like friendly helpers in real life, whether it's at school, work, or even in big places like cities or countries.
