Why do we cry? The three types of tears - Alex Gendler?

We cry when our eyes make special liquid to help us feel better, and there are three kinds of this liquid, like three different flavors of juice!

When we're sad or happy

Sometimes we cry because we’re feeling very happy or very sad. These tears come from a part of our face called the tear ducts, which are like little rivers that help wash away all those strong feelings. You can think of it like when you laugh so hard your cheeks hurt, crying is kind of like the same thing, but with water instead of giggles.

When our eyes get dry

Another kind of tear happens when our eyes feel dry, like a desert on a hot day. These tears are more like a sprinkler, they come in little waves to keep your eyes wet and comfortable.

When we have something in our eye

The third kind is what you get when there's something in your eye, like a grain of sand or a tiny bug! Your eyes make extra tears, like turning on the faucet all the way, so that thing can be washed out.

So next time you cry, remember, it’s just your eyes doing their very best job!
