What makes them special?
How do they work?
Your body has a special way of showing what you're feeling. When something happens that makes you really happy or really sad, your brain sends a message to your eyes: “Time to cry!” Your eyes then make emotional tears, which are like extra wetness from the inside, not just from being tired or having something in your eye.
These tears can feel cool and soft on your face, kind of like when you splash water on your skin after a long day. They help you show how you're feeling to others, and sometimes even make you feel better afterward!
Examples
- A child cries after falling down, showing they're hurt and sad.
- Someone feels overwhelmed at work and starts to cry, feeling better afterward.
- A person laughs and cries at the same time during a heartwarming movie.
