Why Do Governments Change Their Names?

Imagine you're a kid who starts school with the name ‘Timmy.’ But one day, your teacher says, 'From now on, you’re called “Timo”!' It feels weird at first, but soon everyone just calls you Timo. Governments work like that too. They change their names when they want to feel new or different. Maybe they want to forget the past or show people who they are now.
