Why do countries have different forms of government?

Countries have different forms of government because people choose how they want to be led, just like choosing who helps you build a sandcastle at the beach.

Imagine your family is a small country. Sometimes, one person, like Mom, makes all the decisions, like where to go on vacation or what to eat for dinner. This is like a king or queen in some countries. Other times, everyone gets to vote on big choices, like picking a new team leader at recess. That's more like a democracy, where people decide together.

How It Changes Over Time

Just like you might want to switch from building sandcastles to playing tag, countries also change their form of government. Maybe a country starts with one strong leader but later lets everyone vote, it’s like going from a game with only rules to a game where all the kids get to decide.

Sometimes, people in a country don’t agree on how things should be run, so they choose different types of leaders or systems, just like choosing between building a tall tower or a wide fortress. That's why you see different forms of government around the world!
