What is zinc?

Zinc is a kind of metal that’s strong but also flexible, like a rubber band made of steel.

Zinc is usually pale gray in color, and it’s not as shiny as silver or gold. If you touch it, it feels a little like the inside of a pencil, not too rough, not too smooth. It's used to make things like coins, keys, and even parts of your computer!

Zinc is special because it helps other materials stay strong and healthy. For example, when you put zinc on iron or steel, it stops them from getting rusty, just like how a coat helps you stay warm in the winter.

Also, our bodies need a little bit of zinc too! It helps us grow, heal wounds, and even taste food better. You can find zinc in foods like nuts, beans, and chocolate, so eating those is like giving your body a superpower snack!
