A tower is like a really tall building made by stacking things one on top of the other.
Imagine you have a bunch of blocks, like the ones you play with at home. If you stack them up, one on top of another, you make a tower! That’s exactly what people do when they build real towers: they use bricks or stones and pile them high to create something strong and tall.
How Towers Work
Towers need support, just like your block tower needs to stay balanced. If you push too hard on one side, it might fall over. Real towers also have to be strong enough to hold up people, cars, and even weather like wind or rain.
Sometimes, towers are built in the shape of a column, like a giant straw standing straight up. Other times, they’re wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, so they don’t tip over easily, kind of like how you might build your block tower wider at the bottom to make it stand taller!
