What is the Intestine?

The intestine is like a long, twisty tube inside your body that helps you digest food and get energy from it.

Imagine eating a big sandwich, your mouth chews it up, your stomach squishes it down, and then the intestine takes over. It’s like a conveyor belt with lots of little helpers who grab nutrients from the food and send them to other parts of your body so you can run, play, and laugh.

How the Intestine Works

Think of the intestine as a long hallway, when you eat, food goes through this hallway. As it moves along, special cells in the walls of the hall grab pieces of the food, like picking up snacks from a table. These snacks are turned into energy that your body uses to do all its fun stuff.

Sometimes, after the food has been used for energy, what’s left gets pushed out, just like when you finish eating and need to go to the bathroom.

The intestine is super important because it helps you grow strong and stay happy!
