What is sparrow?

A sparrow is a little bird that lives near people and loves to chirp and hop around.

What Does It Look Like?

A sparrow is small, about the size of your hand, and it has short legs, a round body, and a head that looks like it’s always thinking. Its feathers are usually brown or gray, kind of like the color of tree bark or a sidewalk. When it moves, it flaps its wings fast, just like when you run to catch up with your friend.

What Does It Do?

Sparrows love to chirp, that’s how they talk to each other. You might hear them singing from a windowsill or a tree branch near your house. They also like to hop around on the ground, sometimes pecking at seeds or crumbs you leave outside.

You can see sparrows almost anywhere, in parks, on streets, and even in your backyard when you’re playing. They're like little neighbors who are always there, chirping and moving around with energy!
