What is severity?

Severity is how bad something is, like when you spill your juice or get a boo-boo.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy car. If it just wobbles a little, that’s not too serious, maybe you can fix it easily. But if the car crashes into a wall and breaks into pieces, that's more severe, you might need to glue it back together or even get a new one.

Think of severity like the size of your grumpiness when something goes wrong. If your ice cream melts just a little, you’re only a tiny bit grumpy. But if it turns into a puddle on the floor, you're super grumpy, that’s higher severity!

Sometimes, we use numbers to show how severe things are. Like in a game:

  • A 1 means something is very easy to fix (like a little scratch).
  • A 5 means it's really hard to fix (like your toy car being completely broken).

So next time you spill juice or get a boo-boo, think about how severe it is, and maybe even rate it on a scale from 1 to 5! Severity is how bad something is, like when you spill your juice or get a boo-boo.
