What is maintenance?

Maintenance is keeping something working well by taking care of it over time.

Imagine you have a favorite toy car that you roll around your room every day. At first, it zooms smoothly across the floor, but after a while, it starts to wobble or even stops moving altogether. Why? Maybe it needs cleaning, or maybe some parts are loose and need fixing.

That’s what maintenance is like, it's making sure your toy (or anything else) keeps doing its job without problems. Just like you might tidy up your room before bedtime, maintenance is the act of keeping things in good shape so they don’t break or stop working when you need them most.

Why Maintenance Matters

Think of a bicycle, if you never clean it or check the tires, one day you might get a flat tire and not be able to ride anywhere. But if you take care of it regularly, like checking the chain or inflating the tires, your bike keeps going strong for longer.

Maintenance is just like giving your toys (or bikes, or even your house) little love notes every now and then, so they stay happy and ready to play!
