What is intermodality?

Intermodality is when different modes of transport work together to help you get from one place to another.

Imagine you're going on a playdate across town. You might start by riding your bike to the bus stop, then take the bus all the way to the park. That’s intermodality in action, your bike, the bus, and even your feet are all different ways of moving, but they help you get where you need to go.

How It Works

Intermodality is like having a team of friends who each have their own way of getting places. One friend might ride a skateboard, another takes the subway, and another walks. When you use more than one of these ways to travel, that’s intermodality.

Sometimes it feels like magic, but really, it's just people and machines working together in smart ways. Like when you switch from the train to a taxi to get right to your friend's house. That's intermodality too!
