What is impact?

Impact is when something happens because you did something else.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You push one block, and boom, it knocks over a tower of blocks. That’s impact: the tower falling was caused by your push.

Think about dropping a stone into a pond. The stone hits the water, and then ripples spread out from where the stone landed. Those ripples are like impact, they start with one action and then affect everything around it.

If you drop a big stone, the ripples are bigger than if you drop a small one. That’s how impact works: bigger actions cause bigger changes.

Imagine you’re on a playground swing. When you kick your legs hard, you go higher, that’s impact from your leg movement. But if you just tap your legs softly, you only go a little bit higher. So, the harder you push, the bigger the impact, and the more you swing!
