What is germination?

Germination is when a seed wakes up and starts growing into a plant.

Imagine you have a seed, it's like a tiny sleeping baby inside a cozy blanket. One day, the blanket gets wet (maybe from rain or water), and the baby stretches out and says, "Time to wake up!" That’s germination, the seed beginning its journey to become something bigger.

How It Happens

The seed needs two main things: water and air. Water is like a drink that helps the seed open up, and air lets it breathe. Once it gets these, it starts to grow a little root inside the seed, kind of like how you might stretch your arms when you wake up.

What It Looks Like

If you plant a seed in soil and give it water, after a few days, you’ll see a tiny green sprout coming out of the ground. That’s the beginning of a new plant! It's like watching a baby take its first steps, exciting and full of promise.
