What are seeds?

A seed is like a tiny sleeping plant that can wake up and grow into something big.

Imagine you have a favorite snack, maybe a bag of peanuts or a box of chocolates. If you take one peanut out of the bag, it’s just a little nut. But if you plant it in soil and water it, eventually it becomes a whole peanut plant! A seed is like that little peanut, small, but full of life.

What's Inside a Seed?

A seed has everything it needs to grow: food for the baby plant, a coat to protect it, and instructions on how to grow. It’s like having a lunchbox, a raincoat, and a map all in one little package!

When you water a seed or put it in the ground, it starts to wake up, just like when you get out of bed in the morning. Then it grows bigger and bigger until it becomes a full-grown plant.

Seeds Come from Plants

Most seeds come from plants that already grew from seeds before them. Like how you have a mom or dad who helped you grow, plants also pass on their seeds to make new plants, just like having little helpers for the future!
