What is Employment?

Employment is when someone does work for another person or group and gets money in return.

Imagine you have a lemonade stand. You make lemonade, and people buy it from you. That's like being employed, you're doing work (making lemonade) and getting payment (the money from the customers).

What Does It Mean to Be Employed?

When someone is employed, they have a job. A job is something you do every day, or most days, for a company, school, or even a friend.

For example, if your mom works at a bakery, she gets up early, bakes bread, and gets paid by the bakery. That's her job, she’s employed there.

What Do Employers Get?

Employers are people or groups who hire others to do work. They get things done because someone else is doing the hard parts for them.

So when you go to school and learn new things, it’s like being trained for a job. One day, you might be the one baking bread, or maybe running your own lemonade stand!
