What is clever?

Clever is when you find a smart way to solve a problem that seems tricky at first.

Imagine you're trying to get your toy car across a big puddle in the park. The puddle is too wide, and the car can’t jump over it. But instead of giving up, you grab a stick from the ground and use it as a bridge for your car to drive on, that's being clever!

What makes something clever?

  • It’s not about being fast, it's about thinking in new ways.
  • Clever people often see things others don’t. Like how your friend might notice the puddle is shallow and just wades through it, while you use a stick.

Sometimes clever ideas are simple, like using a spoon to scoop up spilled cereal instead of cleaning it all with your hands.

You can be clever too! Every time you figure out a way to make things easier or faster, that’s being clever.
