What is Civil War?

A civil war is when people who live in the same country fight each other because they disagree about how the country should be run.

Imagine you and your best friend both want to be the leader of a big playground. You both have lots of friends on your side, and you start arguing about rules, like whether you can eat candy during naptime or not. Soon, it turns into a big fight: some kids take your side, others take your friend's side, and soon the whole playground is in chaos.

Like a Big Family Fight

A civil war is kind of like when two parts of a big family start fighting, maybe they don’t agree on who should be the boss of the house. One group might say, "We want to live in the big house!" and the other says, "No, we want to move out and get our own place!"

Sometimes these fights can last for years, just like how you and your friend might keep arguing about candy every day, but it’s all part of making sure everyone gets what they think is fair.
