Basketball is a game where players try to throw a ball into a hoop to score points.
Imagine you and your friends are playing a game in the park with a big hoop and a round ball. You take turns trying to throw the ball through the hoop, and every time someone makes it, they get a point. The person with the most points at the end wins!
How the Game Works
In basketball, there are two teams, like two groups of friends playing against each other. Each team has players who run, jump, and pass the ball to try to get it into the hoop. The hoop is tall, so players often need to jump or use their height to throw the ball in.
Scoring Points
Every time a player throws the ball through the hoop, that's called a score. If they make it from close by, that’s one point, like throwing a ball into a basket at your eye level. But if they make it from far away, that’s two points, like tossing a ball into a basket across the room!
Sometimes players can even score three points if they jump really high or take a special shot from outside the main playing area. It's like making it easier for yourself by standing on a chair before throwing the ball in!
