What is anicca?

Anicca means that things change, all the time, and in ways we might not even notice.

Imagine you're holding a balloon. It's nice and round, and you're happy. But then you start walking, and the balloon wobbles. Soon it’s squished against your arm, or maybe it's floating up to the ceiling. That’s anicca, it’s like the balloon isn’t staying the same shape.

How Things Change Around Us

Think about your favorite toy. It looks perfect now, but tomorrow it might have a scratch. Or maybe you’ll leave it in the rain and it gets all wet. That’s anicca, too. Everything changes, even if we don't always notice right away.

Or think of ice cream on a hot day. At first, it's cold and smooth. But after a while, it starts to melt and becomes gooey. The same ice cream isn’t the same anymore, that’s anicca in action! Anicca means that things change, all the time, and in ways we might not even notice.
