A 25% increase means you get 25 more parts out of every 100 parts.
Imagine you have a bag of 4 favorite candies, that’s your starting amount. A 25% increase is like getting one extra candy for every 4 you had before. So now, instead of having just 4 candies, you have 5!
What Does "Percent" Mean?
The word “percent” means per hundred. So when we say 25%, it’s the same as saying 25 out of 100.
Think about a pizza that has 100 slices. A 25% increase would mean you get 25 extra slices, so now your pizza has 125 slices!
How It Works with Numbers
If you had 100 marbles, a 25% increase means adding 25 more marbles, now you have 125.
If you had only 4 marbles, it’s the same as getting one extra marble for every four you already had. So from 4 marbles, you get to 5!
That’s how a 25% increase works, just like getting more of something you love!
