"1 out of 4 means you have one piece from a group that has four pieces total."
Imagine you and three friends are sharing a big pizza. That’s four people in total, including you! If the pizza is cut into four equal slices, and you get just one slice, then you have 1 out of 4 of the whole pizza.
Like Sharing Candy
Now think about a bag of candy with four pieces. You pick one piece to eat right away. That means you have 1 out of 4 candies from the bag, and there are still three more for your friends!
It’s Like Playing with Blocks
If you have a tower made up of four blocks, and you take just one block from it, that one block is 1 out of 4 of the whole tower.
So whether it's pizza, candy, or building blocks, when something is divided into four equal parts, and you get just one part, you have 1 out of 4.
