What exactly is wheat?

Wheat is like a tiny plant that grows into a big, bumpy bunch and becomes something we can eat every day.

Imagine you have a little seed, wheat starts as one of these tiny seeds. When it gets enough water and sunlight, it grows up into a tall green plant with long stalks and soft leaves. At the top of this plant, it makes grains, which look like small yellow balls when they're ready to be harvested.

Now, think about bread or cereal, those are made from these grains! When farmers pick them, they dry them out so we can store them for a long time. Later, people grind them into flour using big machines that turn the grains into something soft and powdery, just like turning playdough into a smooth sheet.

Sometimes, wheat is used to make pasta or even cookies! It's like the base of many foods we eat every day, just like how building blocks are the base for all your favorite toys.
