Free will means you get to choose what you do, just like picking your favorite snack at lunchtime.
Imagine you're sitting at a table with two plates: one has cookies, and the other has apples. You can pick either one, that’s free will! It means you’re not being forced to eat something you don’t want; you get to decide based on what feels right for you.
What Makes Free Will Special?
Free will isn't about having just one choice, it's about knowing you could go either way, and picking one because it feels good to you. Like when you're playing with your toys, and you can choose to build a tower or race your toy cars. You decide which one sounds more fun at the moment.
Sometimes people think free will means you’re always in control, but sometimes things happen that make choices harder, like if it starts raining and you have to pick between staying outside or running inside. But even then, you still get to choose what feels best for you.
Examples
- Some people believe we choose our paths in life, while others say everything is already decided for us.
