What Caused the Great Famine of 1315–1317?

Imagine it’s winter, and instead of snowflakes falling gently on the ground, fierce winds blow all day long, like a giant, angry monster is shaking the sky. This happened for three years in a row in Europe during the Great Famine. The storms ruined crops and made life hard for people, especially farmers. When spring came, there wasn’t enough food to go around, so many people starved or got sick.
