What are white clouds?

White clouds are like fluffy cotton candy floating high up in the sky.

What makes them white

Clouds are made of tiny drops of water or ice that float around in the air. When sunlight shines on these little drops, it bounces off them and comes back to our eyes, just like when light bounces off a shiny balloon. Since all the colors of light mix together, we see white, which is why clouds look so bright and fluffy.

Why they change shape

Clouds are always moving because the air around them is moving too. Sometimes the wind pushes them into long lines or puffy bunches, it’s like when you blow on a pile of cotton candy and watch it swirl around.

When it rains, some of the tiny water drops in the cloud get bigger and fall down as raindrops, just like how cotton candy melts if you hold it too long. But until then, they stay light and white, dancing across the sky for us to enjoy.
