What are three different scripts?

A script is like a special set of instructions that tell people how to write their letters and numbers.

What’s a Script?

Imagine you’re writing with crayons on paper. If you live in France, your letters might look different than if you live in Japan, even though you're both using the same kind of paper and crayons! That's because each place has its own script, or way of writing.

Different Scripts Around the World

  1. Alphabet scripts, like the one we use, it’s made up of letters, just like your name is written with different letters.
  2. Chinese characters are like pictures that stand for words, they’re not made from letters, but from whole shapes you can draw.
  3. Arabic script flows in beautiful curvy lines and is used to write many languages, like Arabic and Persian.

Each of these scripts is a fun way to write, just like choosing between crayons, markers, or colored pencils, the tool changes, but writing is still a lot of fun!
