What are surface imperfections?

Surface imperfections are little bumpy or wobbly parts that make a surface not perfectly smooth.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite teddy bear, it's soft and cuddly, but sometimes there are tiny lumps on its fabric. Those lumps are like surface imperfections, making the surface feel uneven instead of totally flat.

If you take a nice, smooth blanket and crumple it up into a ball, then flatten it again, you’ll see little folds and wrinkles. These are like surface imperfections on a bigger scale. Just as the blanket isn’t perfectly flat anymore, a surface with small bumps or dents isn’t perfectly smooth.

Even tiny surface imperfections can change how things feel or work. For example, if you're drawing on paper and it has little bumps, your pencil might skip or make rough lines, just like when you draw on crumpled paper!
