What are standards?

Standards are rules that help everyone work together smoothly.

Imagine you and your friends want to build a really cool tower with blocks. But some of you use big blocks, and others use small ones. That makes it hard for the tower to stay steady. If everyone agrees on what size blocks to use, or how many blocks should go in each layer, building the tower becomes much easier, and more fun!

Like a Common Language

Think of standards like a common language. Just as you need to speak the same language to understand each other, people, machines, and countries use standards so they can talk and work together. For example, when you plug your phone into a charger, it works because both the phone and the charger follow the same standard for electricity.

Making Life Easier

When there are no standards, things get messy. Imagine if every country used different kinds of coins, it would be confusing when you go to another country to buy ice cream! Standards help keep everything organized so everyone can enjoy the fun without getting stuck in a block tower or confused by too many coins.
