What are squirrels?

Squirrels are little furry animals that live in trees and like to collect nuts.

Imagine you have a backpack full of your favorite snacks. Now imagine you’re running around in the park, jumping from tree to tree, and every time you find a nut, you put it in your backpack so you can eat later. That’s what squirrels do, they gather nuts and seeds, hide them all over the place, and then dig them up when they need food.

Squirrels are also little builders. They use their strong tails to balance on branches, just like you might use a long stick to help you walk across a puddle. Some squirrels even build nests in trees, think of it like building a cozy house up high, where they can sleep safely.

You can often see them running around, chirping and jumping, especially in parks or forests. They’re like little tree athletes, always moving and never getting tired of playing hide-and-seek with their food.
