A medical emergency is when someone gets really sick or hurt all at once and needs help right away.
Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, and suddenly it breaks, that’s a bit of a shock! A medical emergency is like that broken toy but for your body. Your body might feel very uncomfortable or stop working properly, and you need help quickly to get back to normal.
What Makes It an Emergency?
Sometimes, people get hurt in a way that needs immediate attention. For example, if you fall off your bike and cut your knee really badly, that’s a medical emergency because the blood is flowing fast and you might feel very sore or dizzy.
Other times, something inside your body gets out of control, like when you have a really bad tummy ache or can't breathe properly. It's like when your favorite cookie goes all soft and crumbly, it just doesn’t work right anymore!
In both cases, doctors or nurses come in to help fix the problem before it gets worse, just like how mom or dad might quickly grab the glue to fix that broken toy!
Examples
