A frame drop is when a video or game stutters because it can't keep up with the action.
Imagine you're watching your favorite cartoon on TV. The characters are running, jumping, and having adventures, everything flows smoothly. But suddenly, it feels like the cartoon is hiccuping: the character jumps, but for a moment, nothing moves. That pause or glitch is a frame drop.
Like When You're Too Tired to Run
Think of your cartoon as a race between two friends. One friend is drawing all the pictures (the frames), and the other is showing them on the TV (playing the video). If the drawer gets too tired, they skip a picture, that’s like a frame drop.
Now imagine you're playing a video game. You’re running fast through a level, but suddenly, it feels like your character is tripping over invisible steps, that's because of frame drops, and they can make everything feel less fun.
Sometimes the game or video just needs a little rest to keep up with all the action!
