What are financial markets?

Financial markets are like a big playground where people trade things they own, just like kids swap toys at recess.

Imagine you and your friends have some candies and stickers. You might want more candies, so you offer some stickers to someone who has extra candies. That’s trading, giving something you have for something you want.

How It Works

In real life, people trade money, stocks, or bonds in financial markets. Stocks are like pieces of a company, if you own one, you’re part of that company. Bonds are like loans, if you buy one, someone promises to pay you back later.

Why People Trade

People trade because they want to make their money grow, just like you might save your allowance so you can buy more candies next week. Sometimes people bet on things happening, like if a new toy will be popular or not.

It’s all about choices, what you have, what you need, and how much you’re willing to trade for it.
