What are fibers?

Fibers are tiny threads that help make things like clothes, blankets, and even your favorite plush toy.

Imagine you have a spaghetti noodle, long, thin, and squishy. Now imagine there are thousands of these noodles, all tied together in a bundle. That’s kind of what fibers are like! They’re super small threads that join up to make bigger things.

How Fibers Work

Fibers can be made from different materials. Some come from nature, like wool from sheep or cotton from plants. Others are man-made, like the ones in your socks or jeans. These tiny threads give fabrics their strength and softness.

Why Fibers Matter

When you touch a fluffy pillow, it feels nice because lots of fibers are working together to make it cozy. If you pull on a thread from a sweater, that’s one fiber, but the whole sweater is made of many fibers joined tightly together!

So next time you play with yarn or wear your favorite hoodie, remember: you're feeling fibers at work!
