What are dietary habits?

Dietary habits are the choices you make about what and when to eat every day.

Imagine your lunchbox is like a treasure chest. Every day, you pick out different treasures, sometimes a sandwich, sometimes fruit, sometimes cookies. Those choices are dietary habits. They show what kind of food you like to have, and how often you eat them.

What's in Your Treasure Chest?

Your treasure chest can be filled with all sorts of things:

  • A big apple for a snack
  • A sandwich made with bread and cheese
  • A bag of chips for the afternoon

These are your foods, and picking them every day helps your body grow strong and healthy.

When You Open Your Treasure Chest

Some people open their treasure chest once a day, others more. Some like to have a snack in between meals, that’s also part of their dietary habits! It's just like how you might want a break during your favorite game, sometimes you need a little extra fun (or food) along the way.
