What are deep marine environments?

Deep marine environments are like the very bottom of the ocean, super far away from where we live.

Imagine you're in a really deep pool, so deep that even if you swam nonstop for hours, you'd still be nowhere near the top. That's what it’s like being in a deep marine environment.

These places are usually super dark, no lights from above, just the faint glow of strange creatures and maybe some glowing rocks. They can be really cold too, like when you stick your hand out of a freezer. Some parts have mud on the floor, while others have hard rock or even hot lava bubbling up from below.

Even though it’s dark and cold, there are lots of cool animals living here, some tiny, like plankton, and some huge, like giant squid. They’ve adapted to live in this special deep marine environment, just like you adapt to playing outside when it's raining!
