What are ocean currents?

Ocean currents are like rivers inside the ocean, moving water from one place to another.

Imagine you're swimming in a big, deep pool. If someone starts pouring water into one end of the pool, it will push the water already there toward the other end, that’s kind of what happens with ocean currents, but on a much bigger scale!

These moving waters help carry heat around the planet. It’s like having a giant blanket that keeps some places warmer and others cooler. That's why it might be chilly in one part of the world while another is sunny and warm, all thanks to these water highways!
