Conditional indicators are clues that help us know what might happen next, like a special kind of map.
Imagine you're playing hide and seek in your favorite park. You close your eyes and count to 10, this is like the condition. When you open them again, you look around to find your friends, this is like checking the indicator. The condition (counting to 10) tells you when to start looking, and the indicator (what you see) tells you where they might be.
Like a Traffic Light
Think of a traffic light as a conditional indicator too!
- When the light turns green, it means you can go, that's your indicator telling you what to do.
- The green light only shows up after the light was red or yellow, that’s the condition.
So, just like in hide and seek or at a crosswalk, conditional indicators help us know what happens next based on something else we already know!
Examples
- If it rains, we stay inside.
- You get a cookie if you finish your homework.
- A traffic light turns green when the road is clear.
