Screen time is like eating candy, too much can make you happy at first, but too much can also leave you feeling messy and tired.
Imagine your favorite toy, maybe it's a robot that talks or a game where you catch falling balls. That’s screen time, when you’re looking at something bright on a screen, like a phone, tablet, or TV. It’s fun! But if you spend all day with that robot or playing that ball game, you might not have time to run around outside, draw pictures, or talk to your friends.
What's Too Much?
If you watch videos for hours and don’t move much, it can feel like your brain is going to pop out of your ears, just like when you eat too many cookies and feel wobbly. That’s too much screen time. A good rule is: if you're still having fun but also able to play, read, or go outside, then it's just right.
When It's Time to Take a Break
Think of your day like a storybook, sometimes you need to turn the page and do something new! If your eyes feel tired or your body feels heavy after looking at the screen, that’s your brain saying, “Hey, I need a break!” So take off your glasses (or phone), stretch, and go play. That way, you’ll be ready for more fun tomorrow! Screen time is like eating candy, too much can make you happy at first, but too much can also leave you feeling messy and tired.
