Scientists have found out that Interstellar Comet 3I/Atlas came from far away, like a visitor from another neighborhood.
Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy car, and it zooms across the street, but then it suddenly turns around and goes back to where it started. That’s kind of what happened with Comet 3I/Atlas, except it was traveling super fast through space for a very long time before coming near Earth.
How They Know It's from Far Away
Scientists looked at how the comet moved and saw that it had a special "speed", like when you ride your bike really hard and then suddenly stop. This showed them that Comet 3I/Atlas didn’t come from our solar system, but from another one.
What Makes It Special
This comet is also unusual because it didn’t go on a long trip through space like most comets do. Instead, it came in quickly and then left, kind of like a guest who just dropped by for a quick visit before leaving again. That’s why scientists call it an interstellar comet, because it traveled between stars!
