How Does the Roman Empire Still Influence Modern Law?

The Roman Empire is like a big, powerful teacher that still helps kids learn how to follow rules today.

Law is like the rules for playing games, who gets to go first, what happens if you break the rules, and how to fix things when they're broken. The Romans had very good rules, and they passed them down through laws, which are like written instructions that people have to follow.

Imagine your school has a rule: if someone hits another person, they have to say sorry. That’s like how the Romans made laws for fairness. Today, we still use some of those same ideas in our courts, which are like places where people argue about rules and decide who was right or wrong.

Some of the words we use today, like justice and judge, came from Roman words! It’s like how you might say “hello” to your friend every day, you don’t even think about it, but you’re still using a word that has been around for a long time.

So even though the Romans are not around anymore, their laws are still helping us make fair decisions, just like they did back then!
