How does photosynthesis convert sunlight into energy?

Photosynthesis is how plants turn sunlight into food, just like how you turn cookies into energy when you eat them.

Imagine a plant as a little chef in a kitchen. The sun is the cook who sends out bright light, and the leaves are the chefs who catch that light. They use it to make something called sugar, which is like the plant’s favorite snack. This sugar gives the plant energy to grow and stay healthy.

How the Chef Works

The leaves have tiny helpers called chloroplasts, which are like mini kitchens inside the leaf cells. These little chefs use sunlight, water from the soil, and carbon dioxide from the air to make sugar. It’s a bit like mixing ingredients in a blender, they combine them all together to create something new.

When the plant makes sugar, it also produces oxygen, which is what we breathe in. So while the plant is making its snack, it's also giving us a gift, clean air to help us stay alive and happy!
