What are athletes?

Athletes are people who play games or sports really well, just like you might be good at drawing or climbing.

Bold term: Athletes are like superheroes in real life, but instead of flying, they run fast, jump high, kick balls, or swing bats.

What makes someone an athlete?

Imagine your favorite toy, maybe a ball or a bike. Now think about how you play with it every day. An athlete is just someone who plays with their toys (or sports equipment) all the time, and they get really good at it. They practice a lot, just like you might practice drawing or riding your bike to get better.

Why people become athletes

Sometimes, kids start playing a sport because they love it, like how some kids love ice cream. Other times, they train hard because they want to win prizes, like getting a gold star in class. Athletes keep working at their games so they can be the best, just like you might work on your spelling to get an A!
