How Does Muscle Cramps Working Out (WHAT REALLY CAUSES THEM!) Work?

Muscle cramps during workouts are like your muscles saying, “I need a break!

Imagine you're playing on the swings at the park. You go up really high, and then whoosh, you swing back down. That’s fun. But if you keep going higher and higher without stopping, eventually the ropes start to feel tight, and your arms might even get sore. Your muscles are doing something similar when you work out.

Your muscles use tiny fibers called muscle fibers, which are like little engines inside your body. When you exercise, those engines go vroom-vroom, making your muscles move. But if they keep going too fast or for too long without rest, they get tired and can't relax, that’s when a cramp happens!

It's like when you're running around the playground and forget to take a break between games, suddenly, your legs feel like they’re full of rocks! That’s a muscle cramp.

Sometimes, if your body doesn’t have enough water or salt, it can also cause cramps, kind of like how you might feel wobbly after playing all day without drinking anything.
