Fog and mist are like sleepy clouds that come down to visit Earth, making it hard to see things clearly.
Imagine you're drinking from a glass of water on a chilly morning. The air around the glass gets cold, and suddenly you can see little wisps forming, those are water droplets turning into tiny clouds right in front of your eyes! That’s like mist, which is just a sleepy cloud that's close to the ground.
How Fog and Mist Form
When the air near the ground gets cool enough, it turns water vapor (which is invisible) into little water droplets. These droplets float around, making everything look hazy, just like when you’re in a bathroom with steam from a hot shower.
Fog is basically mist that’s thicker, or mist that’s farther away, so it covers more things and makes it harder to see. Think of fog as a big blanket made of tiny water droplets, wrapping around everything, like your favorite sleepy cloud wearing a thick sweater!
Mist, on the other hand, is lighter, like when you take a deep breath in the morning and feel little clouds tickling your nose.
