How do you funnel food off a cutting board?

You can use a plate or a bowl to help move food from a cutting board to something else, like a pan or another plate.

Imagine you're playing with blocks on the floor. You want to take them from one pile and put them in a new tower. Sometimes it's easier if you use a little helper, like a bucket, to carry them over. That’s what a plate or bowl does when you’re moving food!

Using a Plate

If you place a plate on top of the cutting board, then gently slide it forward or push it with your hand, all the food will move with it. It's like pushing a tray across a table, everything stays together as it moves.

Using a Bowl

A bowl is good for moving things that might roll around, like grains or peas. Just put the bowl on top of the cutting board, and then lift it up and move it to where you want the food to go, kind of like picking up a toy and carrying it to your friend.

You can even use both, one for moving food from the cutting board to a plate, and another to take it from there to a pan. It's all about using tools that make things easier, just like you use blocks to build bigger towers!
