How do viruses jump from animals to humans? - Ben Longdon?

Viruses can move from animals to humans when they get into our bodies through sneezes, coughs, or even touching something that has virus bits on it.

Imagine your favorite toy is covered in invisible germs, if you touch it and then touch your face, those germs might jump into your body and make you feel sick. That’s like what happens with viruses.

How Viruses Get From Animals to Us

Viruses are tiny creatures that need a host to live and grow. Sometimes they start in animals, like chickens or bats, and then they find their way to people.

This can happen when we get close to those animals, like at the market or in the forest. Maybe we touch them or breathe in the same air as them. If the virus is strong enough, it will jump from its animal host to our body, just like how a bug jumps from one leaf to another.

Sometimes, viruses even take a ride on other creatures, like mosquitoes, who bite both animals and people, giving the virus a free pass from one world to ours. That's how some viruses start making us sick!
