Why Do We Use Passwords?

Passwords are like secret codes that let people know it's really you. Imagine your house has a special knock, only you and your family know it, so the door opens for them but not strangers. Passwords work kind of like that. When you type in your password on a computer or phone, it checks if it matches the one you set up. If it does, it lets you in! If not, it says, 'Try again!'

Examples

  1. Your mom uses 'password' as her login code because she doesn't want to think too hard about it.
  2. When you log into your gaming account, you type in a special string only you know, just like the secret handshake between friends.
  3. Your phone asks for a passcode every time you turn it on. That's like the phone saying, 'Prove it's really you!'
