Why Do We See Stars at Night?

Stars are like tiny lanterns in the sky. At night, when the Sun goes to bed, we can see these lanterns because there's no light to block them. Some stars look brighter than others because they're closer or bigger, it's like having a small lamp nearby versus a big one far away.
